Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Functional Safety Engineering Manager with an emphasis on Industrial Machine Safety and Safety Systems.
This position is responsible for managing functional safety engineers evaluation of new and existing product regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will be a highly organized team player with excellent communication and computer skills.
The candidate will have a strong understanding of the regulatory compliance schemes and the process required to specify, test, qualify, document and maintain certifications related to Product Safety, Machine Safety, and Functional Safety compliance for domestic and international markets.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a functional safety program to ensure that machinery purchased, designed, and/or co-designed are safe, compliant, and operationally effective Manage a team of field functional safety engineers to support all engineering and business unit teams Work with certifying agencies and organizations to ensure new and existing designs comply with local, regional and national regulations Work with the stakeholders, including the product/program engineering teams, operations, and WHS teams, to educate them on the regulatory, directive and standard requirements for new and existing products, help guide compliant design development and verify compliance through test and validation activities Work with 3rd party nationally recognized laboratories (NRTLs) and labs to test and validate products and support testing from a safety hardware and software perspective Work with Amazon suppliers to communicate regulatory requirements and verify compliance Engage in creative, out-of-the-box thinking about ways that mechatronics and safety systems and potential impacts, especially for unintentional risks they create.
Contribute to developing and implementing safety norms and procedures in ways that is scalable.
