Engineering Technician III - Mayport, FL

Job Description The Engineering Technician III works on a team supporting cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations. The Engineering Technician III (ETIII) Applicant performs a variety of tasks to include inspection, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment.
The ETIII performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents. Receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed; performs recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Installation experience should include the moving and un-crating of equipment, the installation of electronic equipment, ducts, cableways, cables, high density cable connectors, assembling cable harnesses, soldering with low voltage soldering devices, coaxial connectors, waveguide connectors, fiber connectors, and assembling small mechanical parts per fabrication/assembly drawings.
Performs combination of duties as:
Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment. May troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
Follows specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
Conducts various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data.
Extracts and compiles a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processes data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; selects methods of data presentation.
Assists in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts.
Develops information concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
Uses judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
Work is performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations requiring the ability to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation. Must be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety critical.
Required Skills -Position requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in a related field. -Applicant may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty, or military training may apply. -Applicant must be willing to work second or thirds shift as needed. -Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electronics repair, fabrication, and installation.-Applicants also must be willing to work more than 40 hours work weeks.-Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation. Active secret security clearance desirable. -This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens-Travel may be required. Applicant must be willing to travel to various work sites such as Virginia Beach VA, Bremerton WA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL & Yokosuka Japan. -Mil-Spec multipin and fiber optic connector certification preferred.-Military Veterans and Spouses encouraged to apply.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
