About the team
The strategy and corporate development team is responsible for the implementation of the company's overall strategic approach to pursuing acquisition targets, driving merger integration, and supporting the delivery of transformation initiatives for the enterprise. It provides solutions to the most pressing issues & opportunities at the company and works with the executive management team to address them.
Responsibilities
The Director, Strategy & Corporate Development reports to the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer. As a member of this team you will work on a range of topics/issues in direct coordination with senior executives in the company. No week is ever the same; you may be supporting the due diligence of an acquisition target one week, helping to define a new digital partnership the next and then working with a senior business lead on how we can help improve his /her business. The team is structured to be flat and non-hierarchical; we work together to get to the best outcome. This lack of hierarchy also means a lot of exposure to the senior executives (including the CEO) and our private equity owners (The Carlyle Group). Finally, it is intended that members of this team get the opportunity to gain operational experience and, when desired, access to future roles in our respective lines of business.
The types of strategies and opportunities this individual might be expected to support include:
Core Revenue growth new channels, new services, etc. in our base business
International and business model expansion
Merger and acquisitions target landscaping and due diligence support
Merger integration
Operational transformation initiatives i.e., new approach to the business
Alliances and partnerships
Profit improvement and cost efficiency measures
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred
Experience in Consumer Goods and Retail a plus
3
years with leading strategic management consulting (e.g., Bain, BCG, McKinsey)
Strong interpersonal and communication (written, verbal) skills
Willingness and ability to collaborate with senior executives to solve tough problems
Strong analytic mindset, ability to structure work and handle ambiguous data
Resourceful in pursuing data and insights
Good organizational and program/project management skills
Great attitude and desire to have fun while working on tough issues
