Non Clinical Internship- Outpatient Health Information Management (Unpaid)
Department Overview:
The Outpatient HIM department ensures a patient's health information and records are complete, accurate and protected. We handle Release of Information, diagnosis coding, perform various medical record analysis and reporting, and manage the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI); A data registry that is used across the organization to maintain coinsistent and accurate patient data. The HIM Department is a key player in the Revenue Cycle group.
Description of the Intern Project:
The intern will assist in record maintenance, release of information, chart audits, as well as assist in other various HIM related duties and special projects. This intern will also have the opportunity to shadow additional HIM Departments within the Brooks system. Overall, valuable experience will be gained in Health Information Management; a dynamic and growing career path in healthcare.
Intern hours to be determined between the student and Manager.
32-40 per week;
