Come grow with us!The WCS - Medical Care Coordinator works directly with employers, adjusters, nurse case managers and workers compensation insurance companies to register, schedule and secure prior authorization for services for our patients who were injured at work. Care coordination is completed by phone and email with our referral sources, and via our EMR, Athena, with our providers and medical care teams. The starting rate of pay is $17 per hour.Candidates must have 1 year of customer service experience, 1 year of heath care/medical office experience and excellent phone and email communication skills.If you would like to be a part of a dynamic team working for the area's leading orthopedic medical group providing an unparalleled level of service, apply now! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEffective multi-tasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Working knowledge of computer applications to successfully navigate practice management systems.Provides consistent high-quality verbal and written communication with providers, adjusters, case managers and patients.Completes administrative review of received medical records and treatment notes to ensure completion, accuracy, and program compliance.Maintains all records and reports with accuracy.Obtain and process authorizations for continued care of the injured worker.The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position.EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & REQUIREMENTSThis position will accept any one of the below experiences as qualification:
One-year medical business office experience in physician office, orthopedic practice, or hospital environment.One-year customer service, call center experience in health care or insurance industry.Workers' Compensation experience is always preferred.Athena experience is always preferred.High school diploma/GED.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience working with Microsoft applications including Word. Excel, and Outlook.Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment.Ability to learn and retain company policies, state and federal policies, and workflow processes.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESKnowledge of worker's compensation and/or healthcare insuranceKnowledge of physician group operation and clinic policies.Knowledge of authorization and verification processes.Skill in the billing authorization process.Skill in obtaining necessary approvals for Worker's Compensation to reduce denials.Ability to proficiently use arithmetic calculations in data collection and interpretation.Ability to use interpersonal skills to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, management, and other staff.Ability to communicate openly and honestly with management and staff.PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONSNormal office environmentThis can occasionally be a high-stress work area requiring the ability to make quick decisions, while being organized and prioritizing appropriately.
