Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant will perform routine tests and procedures, collect data and samples and provide clinical trial support.
Clinical Care Duties:
Draw blood, collect specimens and prepare, store and ship research samples.
Advance preparation of blood, urine and other bodily fluid of research clinical trial patients, while employing correct sample containers, sample labels and sample dispatch.
Draw blood samples following central laboratory and clinical trials protocols. Prepare blood and urine samples to these protocols, including centrifugation and separating samples.
Prepare and forward labeled samples to research central laboratories, following mandatory packaging safety requirements (Hazardous Materials Regulations).
Prepare patients for examinations, procedures and treatments. Obtain vital signs, laboratory results, EKG results, DEXA results, etc.: record all information in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
File laboratory results in clinical trial subject s research records.
Process Health Information Requests for clinical trial patients, as needed.
Inventory and order supplies, stock exam rooms.
Assist with scheduling patients for screening visits and lab redraws.
Adheres to health center safety, infection control and hazardous waste procedures.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Participate in Quality Improvement processes and activities in the organization.Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
Minimum one year of satisfactory work performance in a community health, family practice or clinical trial setting
Ability to obtain/maintain Basic Life Support Certification
Ability to obtain/maintain International Air Transport Association (IATA) Certification
Knowledge of and ability to follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines
Ability to work independently within area of responsibility
Ability to work as a team member
Ability to handle multiple tasks, while meeting deadlinesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
