Headquartered in Jacksonville since 1987, Auld & White Constructors (AWC) provides new construction and renovation services for commercial, healthcare, and public facilities throughout Northeast Florida.

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Superintendent to join our high performing team.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions A.

Core Responsibilities 1.
Plan and manage all activities pertaining to construction.
Identify problems proactively and act immediately to provide solutions.
2.
Safety:
Mitigate safety incidents and associated risks.
Ensure project is incident free.
a.
Establish expectations through review of Safety Manual, jobsite orientation, safety meetings, monitoring, enforcement, etc.
b.
Investigate and report all accidents.
3.
Quality:
Ensure quality installations and protection of finished work, preventing rework.
a.
Study Contract Documents, submittals, shop drawings and other related information.
Understand interrelation of materials/trades and coordinate accordingly.
b.
Lead preinstallation coordination meetings.
Establish and enforce quality expectations before and during installation.
c.
Leads the QC program, AWC pre-punch, and Owner punch lists.
4.
Schedule:
Ensure on-time completion of the work.
a.
Collaborate with PM to establish Master Project Schedule.
b.
Plan, coordinate, and schedule project activities via Storyboard, 4 Week Look-ahead schedules, and Subcontractor Coordination Meetings.
c.
Monitor and drive schedule adherence and receipt of necessary inspections and Certificate of Occupancy.
5.
Cost:
Manage project budgets ensuring 10% labor savings goal is achieved (Lead Carpenter responsibility if Lead assigned) and material/equipment expenditures are at or below budgets.
Ensures terms of Subcontract Agreements are adhered to.
6.
Project success shall be defined as:
a.
Zero (0) safety incidents.
b.
Quality installation (no rework).
c.
10% labor savings achieved (Lead Carpenter responsibility if Lead assigned).
d.
Material & equipment expenditures are at or below budgets.
e.
Work completed on-time.
f.
Client & design partner satisfied.
C.
Day-to-Day Duties 1.
Must understand basic construction principles for all disciplines of work.
2.
Provide leadership, accountability, and support to AWC's Lead Carpenter to ensure effective execution of self-performed work packages.
If no Lead Carpenter assigned, fill this role.
3.
Ensure productivity goals are established by AWC's Lead Carpenter through utilization of Task Sheet Planning Methods ensuring self-perform work is thoroughly planned out with a step-by-step list of what to do including safety, equipment, tool list, material & cut list, man-hour goals, sketches, task list by craftsperson.
If no Lead Carpenter assigned, fill this role.
a.
Regularly measure and drive productivity (daily checks at task level, weekly checks at overall project level).
b.
Forecast man/crew hours.
c.
Report/input time and quantities of completed work on a weekly basis.
d.
Identify estimate issues early.
Establish plan to mitigate potential losses.
4.
Provide regular feedback to Estimating Department to assist in refinement of estimates.
5.
Identify, train, and develop team members.
6.
Must be able to complete takeoffs for material purchases.
7.
Capable of submittal and shop drawing review process (rebar, formwork, shoring, concrete, etc).
Verify that all required shop drawings, plans, mix designs, special material approvals, traffic control plans, and other documents necessary for assigned phases of work have been submitted and approved prior to start of the work 8.
Study Contract Documents, submittals, shop drawings and other related items for information on type of material required, such as lumber, rebar, concrete, vapor barrier, curing compound, etc.
Understand the interrelation of various trade's work (e.
g.
how is the roof curb height impacted by the roofing insulation system).
9.
Properly code material delivery tickets and vendor invoices and turn into Accounting weekly.
10.
Prepare and verify layout, grades, dimensions, etc.
using transit, builder's level, rule and framing square.
11.
Coordinate jobsite logistics by scheduling major deliveries, directing traffic and keeping unauthorized vehicles from blocking any area where site conditions restrict access.
12.
Schedule and coordinate rental of necessary equipment.
13.
Assure that the areas are kept in a clean, orderly, and safe condition by holding Subcontractors accountable.
14.
Prepare daily reports and keep Project Manager and Home Office fully informed as to project activity at all times.
15.
Receive and report to the Project Manager any extra work requested by Owner or conditions, which require work beyond the contract documents or original estimate.
16.
Ensure time (hours worked) for all AWC employees on-site is entered/updated accurately on a daily basis.
All time must be correct and submitted no later than Tuesday afternoon.
17.
Prepare accurate weekly labor unit reports and update no later than Tuesday afternoon.
18.
Set the example and mentor/train AWC's employees on proper work ethic, construction methods, workmanship, safety awareness, company policies, proper dress code, etc.
19.
Purchase specific items required for the work.
This shall include obtaining a minimum of three (3) prices, ensuring the items are in accordance with specifications and that they are available for timely delivery.
20.
Advise Human Resources of any ongoing personnel issues regarding Auld & White field personnel (i.
e.
, attendance, medical concerns, tardiness, attitude issues, skill deficiencies, etc.
).
21.
Enforce company safety and accident programs.
Report all accidents to Human Resources immediately.
22.
Maintain relationships with other trades and the main project team.

Education and Work Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Eight or more years of related commercial construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
