Non Clinical Internship - Complete Care

OverviewNon Clinical Student Internship - Complete Care Department (Unpaid)Department Overview:
The Brooks Rehabilitation Complete-Care Department offers many specialized services to support patients recovering from joint placement, hip fracture, spinal surgery, or congestive heart failure. Our department aims to improve the care coordination during the recovery process. At the core of the Complete-Care program are care navigators, dedicated nurses or health coaches, who follow patients through their entire 60 day episode of care. We also have a team of dedicated IT developers that work full time on an IT tool that was built in house to integrate data from multiple EMRs and track patients over time.Description of the Intern Project:
Complete-Care interns have an opportunity to learn about the Medicare Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative, which links payments for the multiple services patients receive during an episode of care. Under the initiative, organizations enter into payment arrangements that include financial and performance accountability for episodes of care. This program may lead to higher quality and more coordinated care at a lower cost to Medicare.
Interns will have the opportunity to be a part of regular meetings with executive leadership regarding system of care initiatives, partnership and strategy, and finance steering meetings. The intern will prepare reports and analysis on program quality metrics, lead team meetings, and will have the unique opportunity to interact with the entire Brooks continuum of care.Intern hours to be determined between student and Manager:
