Gerdau is currently seeking a Process Engineer for its Jacksonville, FL facility.

Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Process Engineer will be working in the Rolling Mill and reporting directly to the Rolling Mill Superintendent. This position is primarily responsible for leading both short-term and long-term improvement projects in the Rolling Mill, each aimed at improving safety, quality, cost, throughput, or working conditions in the mill. The Process Engineer will assist with chronic mechanical and process problems that other employees have struggled to solve will be turned over to this position for in-depth study, analysis, and resolution. Use of Gerdau Business System tools such as Annual Action Planning, QIS, Six Sigma, as well as the CAPEX process will be extensive. While this position has no direct reports, the Process Engineer must be able to influence those around him/her and execute changes in processes, procedures, and equipment. At the same time, this position is expected to be a technical resource upon which other employees can depend on relating to matters of the rolling process and mechanical equipment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Candidates with other engineering related degrees may be considered accompanied with a significant level of experience working with mechanical equipment in a heavy manufacturing setting.

years of process engineering experience in heavy industrial/heavy mill machinery and/or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods.
Process/Continuous improvement and integration of improvement principles - technical and engineering; identifying best practices.
Strong working knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques that involve the use of heavy mill machinery and/or related equipment.
Knowledge of mechanical power-transmission equipment such as bearings, hydraulics, gearboxes, etc. is essential.
Problem-solving ability is key, along with the ability to communicate with peers, superiors, and hourly employees.
Knowledge of reading/modifying mechanical drawings - AutoCAD or similar experience preferred.
Previous qualifying experience in scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, maintenance, finishing, shipping/warehouse operations, and supervisory/facilitation is strongly preferred.
Successful candidate will demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the business system and the use of complex technical and engineering processes.
