Summary:
Please summarize the key responsibilities of the position (Summary should be 1 - 3 sentences).
This position is the primary liaison and educational champion in the areas of education for dependency children.
Education Bachelor's degree required.
Experience Familiar with the Duval and Nassau County Schools.
Ability to navigate the school system, policies, regulations, procedures, MOU's and adhere to Federal Guidelines.
Knowledge of educational practices and policies including IEP, 504, and specialized education plans.
Proficient in facilitating meetings and staffings.

Job Duties Describe the essential duties of the job (these are activities you perform on a regular basis) and percent of time spent on each.
% of Time Essential Duties Liaison between Family Support Services (FSS), Duval County Public School (DCPS)l, Cas Management Office (CMO), Children Legal Service (CLS) and Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) programs to meet the educational needs of the children under FSS's supervision and to facilitate the implementation of the interagency agreement between FSS and the Duval County Public Schools and requirements under ESSA.
Facilitate Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Early Education staffings and attend any related Multidisciplinary Team meetings if needed.
35 Provides advanced knowledge and expertise in the local, state and federal laws that govern education in child welfare, act as an expert in educational best practices; participate in meetings, activities, and initiatives at local, and state organizations.
20 Monitor, facilitate and consult with caregivers, CMO's, GAL's and service providers to ensure that the best education decisions are made for students in FSS's system of care including identifying students who meet the legal requirements for a surrogate parent 15 Provide educational information when appropriate to CMO's and provide training as requested for PRIDE, Pre-Service and for the system of care.
10 Review all shelter information with the DCPS liaison to ensure a smooth transition into care.
5 Oversee transportation requests and work towards ensuring DCPS is notified of any changes so there is no lapse.
5 Attend job related trainings, meetings, events and participate in special projects as assigned.

1) This position regularly discusses and makes recommendation for education decisions.
It can require participating in staffings, Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) and Functional Behavioral Assessment meetings for students who are not performing on grade level and struggling with academics and behaviors.
This requires knowledge of education alternatives and services that may benefit the students.
Example includes IEP and MDT meetings and phone conversations and correspondence with DCPS staff, CMO staff and caregivers 2) This position participates/facilitates in meetings that requires knowledge of both education and dependency to ensure that wording in agreements, MOU and any informational presentations- are beneficial to the clients of FSSNF.

1) This position is responsible for the working relationship with DCPS.
We are exchanging data that allows both FSS and DCPS to identify students, the schools that they attend and their needs.
This allows us to make better utilization of the interventions that are available to the students.
2) This position is responsible for an improved working relationship with the EE/SS Department of DCPS.
Regular contact and communication ensure that our students are in the correct programs, have surrogate parents when needed and have behavior interventions when needed.
